Extended the warranty to 5 years, that’s insurance that it wont need any work until 5 years and 1 day.

We bought a fridge at a carport sale for $50 many years ago, and that thing chugged away cooling our grub for almost 20 years, we finally decided to replace it with a newer model and sold it at our carport sale for $75. We should have kept it because I’ve gone through two more “newer” models already with lots of service calls when they suffered premature cooling failures.

AZ – Thanks for the ringing endorsement of today’s technology. We paid a bit extra to extend the warranty to 5 years. Whoopee Do!

Peggy, I’m pretty sure you just have to remove the door / door lock and then just leave it on the street and notify council and they’ll pick it up for you….

The only problem with those old fridges is that they weight about 2 ton. I swore blind I’d never move it again and then our lease expired. The removalists I hired to move it remembered that damn fridge two years later when I hired them again to move it out of the place!

Thomas – Things might be different in Scotland for Peggy. We’re getting a new fridge delivered tomorrow and they are taking the old one away for $10.

I helped Muppet’s Mum shift once and 3 of us carried her baby grand piano down a flight of stairs. I won’t forget that in a hurry!

My grandma’s fridge was the same – no fancy frills but lasted from the time electric refrigerators came to town until the day we buried her. I hope the next one is as long lived!

Peggy – Guarantee on the new one is 2 years so it’s a throwaway society now. The consumer is being screwed.
