Going the Distance

We’ve never owned a car that hasn’t been grasping for the oily rag around 500k’s and then you’re desperately looking for a petrol station.

Well not with the Ford Mondeo Diesel.  Could get to Sydney on one tank full.

AZ prices are about the same as Florida, still cant figure why our company is being so nice to us.Came in handy in Oregon on the trip as we rented a Chevy Tahoe, fill up was $60.00 +.

Beware of companies being nice. :)

$2.89 a gal. diesel, $2.87 a gal. premium, and $2.79 a gal. regular. We live in the land of gas hogs, no matter how expensive gas gets the most popular vehicles on the road in Arizona are still SUVs and Pickups.

Hey DB we got some rain this evening we’re down to 77.2 °F and 85% humidity!

We pay about $US1.94 a gallon for gas here. LPG gas that is. :D I ran past Holly’s school this morning as the mums were dropping off their darlings and nearly every vehicle was a 4WD (SUV) so petrol prices don’t worry us here either.

That humidity is a killer though. I can bear 40C and 10% humidity but 25c and 85% can be sweaty stuff. We’re having a wetter winter than the last few years but we need heaps more.

My company has given us a gas card, like the truckers use, we charge the gas and its deducted from our paychecks except we are charged .60 cents less per gallon than the price at the pump and we are guaranteed never to pay over $2.99 per gal.

$2.99 a US gallon is $A0.86 cents per litre so you are still below us. It was even cheaper a few years ago when we travelled the US so you’ve caught up a bit. I presume $US2.99 isn’t the general rate for petrol so what is the average price for petrol and diesel around your way at the moment?

Is diesel cheaper than regular gas in Oz?

Yes and no. Diesel tends to be static at around $1.23 a litre and petrol rises and falls up to 10c a litre over the week (Rises on a Thursday and falls by Monday). I noticed yesterday that petrol was down to $1.14 so we’re losing but next week it could be $1.35 so we win. When the petrol price drops, big queues form at the supermarket discount petrol stations but we don’t have to worry about that or checking the board for the cheap stuff anymore. We just rock up at weekends when the petrol stations are empty.

You can have it if Oz Lotto comes in next week.
